Description
Introduction
The Author has chosen to devote most of his mycological studies to the relatively limited field of the genus Tricholoma (Fr.) Staude, because convinced that the records available in the literature, especially for what concerns iconography and typical characterizations, are too confused, dispersive, inaccurate and often far from exhaustive. The main aim of this monograph, which is geared to all those who turn to the world of macromycetes with enthusiasm and pleasure, is to give an image as clear-cut as possible of all those “fleshy fungi” which from the pristine Elias Fries’ Agaricus (Tricholoma) (1821) have gradually been defined, selected and included in the modern concept of the genus Tricholoma (Fr.) Staude. Even regarding modern colour iconographies as effective, the Author has preferred to avail himself of the work of naturalist painters of international repute such as AurelDermek and Ernesto Rebaudengo, with a view to proposing the typical image of the entities nowadays to be included in this group of white-spored gill fungi. This monographic contribution is the result of over twenty years of field work, document hunting and exchange of experience with other researchers.
